Narratives:Adventures of ‘solar caterpillars’

My story is about the adventures of ‘solar caterpillars’. This topic was inspired by the pictures of thin film solar cells.

I think it will be interesting if I introduce the solar applications as adventures of caterpillars. The story is simple actually. Solar cells are born due to the sun, so the first scene is sunrise. Then several solar cells fall down to the ground slowly as falling leaves. The solar cells compose some pieces of thin-film solar panels. Magic happens!!! The solar panels seem to wake up and start creeping as caterpillars. What do they belong to? Who needs them? They are looking for the answers…They creep along the road and pass through a street lamp. The leading caterpillar then creeps toward the top of the lamp and successfully makes it glow. The rest ones go on creeping and find a car stopping at side of the road. They are exciting to climb to the top of the car and power the car to drive away. Creeping…until encountering a green house, they jump to the roof of the house and produce electricity and absorb heat, which are beneficial to harvest lots of good quality plants, such as huge pumpkins. That’s amazing but not the end, because there are still some solar panels haven’t find their significance. Later they meet a plane and power the plane fly away. They also illuminate the traffic lights and operate a lovely solar flower. They ascend the slope and encounter a high skyscraper. They leap to the skyscraper and form new shining clothes which can even reflect the blue sky. Night falls, many pretty LED images appear on the clothes and the skyscraper become more attractive. Adventures are nearly ending, but what about the rest caterpillars? Oh~ they are growing into butterflies~~~ Following with the sight of the solar butterflies, we see a big beautiful urban. That’s the story of solar technology and Urbanisation.

My story describes the development and variation of our beautiful life. This idea is from my enthusiasm for life and inspired from the visit of World Expo2010 in Shanghai at the same time.

At the beginning of the story, planets are rotating along the orbits in the universe. We zoomed in the Earth, through the atmosphere layers, we reach the ocean and we find the beautiful scene of sunrise. The sun is rising from the horizontal line, the sky become brighter, and water bubbles start rising into the air. A bird is flying in the sky, while a bubble floating through and being exploded by the bird. The bird is scared and flies towards a growing tree. The sun shines there kindly and wakes up the grass, the flowers, and the creek. A beautiful butterfly dances around the flower happily. We follow the trace of the butterfly to a modern city. Buildings, transportations, infrastructures are constructed and humans are walking along the street. Nearly dusk, the street lights self illuminate. Let’s study the invention of the lamp bulb, which is one represent of wisdom of the human race. The environment becomes brighter and brighter under the light until all in white. It is snowing and ballet dancer is rotating gracefully with a piece of Christmas music. It is not only showing the transmission of seasons but also evolving the culture of humanity. Then more cultural elements are explored, such as paintings, Paper cutting, food and films. The frame of the films starts being distorted and turning to be the fan of a wind mill, and then a group of solar panels appears on the ground. A flock of birds flies through and leads us back to the ocean. A whale surfaces, while the sky turns to darkness. Everything drifts into slumber and coagulates into a painting. Then the painting disappears with sands and those sands are reconstructed as the author's name…

Story

I want to descibe an atmosphere radiating exuberant vitality following a beam of varied light from the rising sun. It wakes the nature, the culture and the humans. Through the transformation of the elements which belong to the life, I will tell you the development of this world, including the superseding of the old by the new.
I have chosen a piece of bouncy and bright music to improve the exalting effects.
I have a draft about my animation as following:
1)Sunrise-a beam of light fly off
2)flowers blooming& butterfly flying
3)water& fish swiming
4)cities start constructing& tranportation appears& fireworks display
5)high technology blooming, from invention of light bulb to the applications of renewable energy
6)people woring in different fields& arts& other cultral products such as films
7)fly into a tube and all in dark
8)Finish

I wish I can finally complete this story nicely.

3ds animation in Hong Kong pavilions-World Expo 2010

The 3D movie provides visitors to the pavilion with a memorable experience of Hong Kong as a colorful and vibrant metropolis brimming with creativity and contrasts.Every clip is continued perfectly and I wish I can apply some of them in the following assignments. I also like the positive and bright atmosphere in bouncy and pleasing ways, but sorry about the low resolution since I cannot find higher one.

SET

'SET' contains lots of meanings, while it can be shapes, constructions, movements, sunset, decaying, adjustment and a working team. It could be very abstract, but also be a detailed object. I spent one day to contemplate an appropriate theme related to this word, and later I found that actually nearly all the things around us could be explained by 'SET’. So I decided my theme is ‘LIFE’.

In my plan, I wanted to perform this concept with variable elements, from old to new, from detailed to abstract, from simple to complex, from nature to human culture. These modes can be expressed as different patterns, such as variations of shapes, rotation of objects, blooming of flowers, flying of birds,radiance of sun, transformation of seasons, construction of buildings, chain reactions,activities of human beings, and any other mode of existence in our life.
